OBEDIENCE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

PUPPY KINDERGARTEN (For puppies less than 6 months old)

Puppies learn social etiquette and basic manners in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Puppies this age are at their learning peak and learn quickly how to please their owners and earn treats.  In addition, a health and behavioral topic such as house breaking, chewing, digging, proper nutrition, etc., will be presented each week.

BEGINNER OBEDIENCE  (For dogs 6 months and older)

This is a basic pet manners class. Dogs are taught to heel on leash, sit, down, stay, stand for examination, and to come when called. Owners are also instructed on ways to prevent dogs from jumping, chewing, digging, and how to control an excitable dog. In addition, common health issues will be addressed each week.

ADVANCED OBEDIENCE (Beginner Obedience is required for this class)

Class teams will also receive an introduction to Rally Obedience, a very popular new dog sport which emphasizes dog/handler teamwork.

Prerequisite: Beginning Obedience

LEVEL II DOG OBEDIENCE (Beginner Obedience class is required for this class)

This course is a progression of the Advanced Dog Obedience course. More emphasis will be placed on attention exercises and off leash work, including off-leash heeling, recalls, sit-stays and down-stays.

Prerequisite: Advanced Obedience

RALLY OBEDIENCE (Beginner Obedience is required for this class)

Rally Obedience is an interactive sport for dogs and their handlers. Rally-O combines many obedience exercises into agility-style courses. It's less stressful than regular obedience and not as fast-paced as agility, which makes it more fun for you both!

CANINE GOOD CITIZENSHIP CLASS (Beginner Obedience is required for this class)

Our students and their dogs will continue to enhance their basic Obedience skills and work on ensuring their dogs are prepared to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen exam at the end of the session.

(A minimum of 3 students is required for this class.)

THERAPY DOGS (Beginner Obedience and CGC are required for this class)

Prerequisite: Beginner Obedience and CGC

If you are interested in working with your dog as a Therapy Team - you must first attend a Basic Obedience Class, a Canine Good Citizen Class, and then the Therapy Dog Preparation Class which is offered at the 2nd & 4th sessions of Obedience Training Club of Wichita Falls classes. If you and your dog have trained elsewhere, please contact us and discuss your dog’s training and skill level.

A lot of people prefer the one-on-one visit with a caring person escorting a sweet dog, who just wants to snuggle. If you have a need for a Therapy Dog visit - either group or single, please contact us at 940-851-0694.
